Hello! Trainer Sara here! I’ve been a certified personal trainer for 3 years and I’m also a massage therapist. I’ve played different sports all my life with more focus in soccer and resistance training. My passion is to help those in chronic pain, limited range of motion and those who just want to look and feel good. My wide background of sports and personal studies have helped me bring a variety of tactics to training clients and making it fun while reaching their personal fitness goals. I’m so excited to help you achieve the body you’ve been wanted here at EWB!
I have been a health and fitness fanatic for as long as I can remember. I started doing Aerobic classes and step classes back in the 70’s and have never stopped MOVING. Through college and into my twenties, I was a fitness instructor teaching aerobics and strength classes. When I got married and moved to Long Beach, I stopped teaching but never stopped working out and using my body! In 2013 I was diagnosed with MS. With the help of my knowledge of alternative/functional medicine, nutrition and fitness and with determination and commitment to HEALTH, I was able to cure myself 100%. I feel incredible and grateful to have a body that works in every way. I finally decided to put my passion and knowledge to work, studying Life Coaching, becoming an Ace Personal Trainer and a Certified Group Trainer. I believe that it is NEVER TOO LATE TO move! I am committed to inspiring everyone to MOVE daily and nourish one’s body. It gives me so much joy to help others with their journey to optimal health. In my free time I also enjoy playing Pickleball and tennis and yoga.
NASM CPT, EXERCISE & HOLISTIC LIFESTYLE COACH C.H.E.K INSTITUTE
For me, coaching others to achieve their fitness and well-being is a personal and professional passion. My enjoyment of movement began at a young age and has continued into my adult life.
I’ve played many different sports and activities; some include mixed martial arts,Olympic weightlifting, baseball, soccer, football and surfing. As I got older, I realized that my love of sports was really just my enjoyment of movement itself. I began to practice natural human movements in the gym and outside in nature. This gave me the freedom to move however I wanted without the limitations of sport.
Improving one’s fitness and well-being through movement is a lifelong pursuit that should be dynamic, effective, and fun. It is a pleasure to work with my clients to help them achieve their health and fitness goals.
I am proud to be a Certified Personal Trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
I am also certified as an Exercise Coach and Holistic Lifestyle Coach through the C.H.E.K. Institute.
In my free time, I like to be outside in nature, hiking with my dog and close friends. Wether it’s the mountains, the ocean or the desert, I enjoy exploring all of San Diego county.
Yoga has always been the magic elixir for all that ails me. Busy mind? Yoga. Anxious? Yoga. Inflexible? Yoga. Lack of insight? Yoga. I adore the movements in yoga, and as equally important I can’t get enough of the positive effects of yoga on the parasympathetic nervous system: preventing inflammation, making memories, initiating of the relaxation response, etc. Understanding the benefits of the practice encourages me to be consistent and curious in my practice. Mostly though, yoga makes me feel good.
A deeply personal practice, yoga is best executed when students feel empowered to listen to their bodies and to respond accordingly. There is no one ‘right’ way. No ‘perfect’ yoga. The best practice is one that feels best in the body, not necessarily the one that looks perfect from the outside. Students should strive to develop a strong interoceptive sense, and allow that internal self-awareness to guide them safely in their practice. Students in my class should feel free to use me as a guide, but also make intelligent decisions to vary or modify, as they see fit for their bodies. Need a block to help access the pose more safely and deeply? Great! Want to stay in a pose or shape longer? Go for it. Need some time in child’s pose smack dab in the middle of class? Absolutely! Finding ways to modify your practice does not make your practice ‘less than’ or ‘yoga lite’; it makes it customizable to you and your needs- which only you know, best.
